Fair Take is made by Sean Kinsman ("we"), who also makes Paperwell. The short version: your recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac. When you ask Fair Take's AI for notes or a debrief, the transcript text is sent to write them, and it isn't kept on our side.

Recordings and transcripts

Fair Take records your microphone and the audio playing on your Mac while you choose to capture, and transcribes it on your Mac using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Recordings, transcripts, your notes, prep, debriefs, and thank-you drafts are stored on your Mac, in Fair Take's library. We never receive your audio.

The AI

Notes, debriefs, thank-you drafts, and prep sheets are written by Anthropic's Claude. To write them, the meeting's text (transcript, your notes, and prep) is sent to Claude, either directly from your Mac with your own Anthropic key, or through Fair Take's service if you use Fair Take's AI. Our service passes the text to Anthropic and the response back to you without storing or logging either. Anthropic handles it under its API terms, which do not allow it to train models on API data. See anthropic.com/legal.

For Fair Take's AI, our service keeps usage records: which kind of request, when, how many tokens it used, and its cost. These identify a meeting only by a scrambled code, never by its name or content.

Your account

To use Fair Take's AI you sign in with your email. We keep your email, the public half of a key that your Mac creates in its secure hardware to sign requests, a scrambled hardware code used to limit the free tier to one allowance per Mac, and your plan. We use your email to sign you in, to match purchases to your account, and, if you ask, to tell you about Fair Take. You can delete your account by writing to us.

Purchases

Paddle is our reseller and processes payments as the merchant of record. Paddle receives your payment details and email under its own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal). We receive a record of the purchase, not your card details.

Recording other people

The people you interview with are recorded too. Fair Take asks you to tell them before every recording and keeps a note, on your Mac, of when you confirmed. Following the recording laws where you and they are is your responsibility. See the in-app guide under Help, Recording Laws and Consent.

This website

The waitlist form stores what you enter (email, situation, and price answers) with our web host, Netlify. Your browser remembers which founding price it was shown. We don't use advertising trackers.
